I want to open a business, prefferably a retail store. I would like to get someone to invest, I know there is a sort of portfolio that is need to present to the investors, but what type of information would i include within the portfolio. I know i would add a basic run down of what the business would be, estimated start up cost (rent, supplies, salaries, and merchandise), weekly/monthly goals, but im not sure what else i would include. DDoes anyone have any tips, or know of a website where i might find some more information.

  1. The biggest concern any investor will have is: Will your business make him or her money (a profit)? You'd have to convince the investor that your business is worth giving you money to create it.

Are the items you're selling going to make a lot of money? Do you have good business sense? Are you a hard worker? Do you know what you're doing? Will you do what it takes to make this work?

Make the investor believe in you and your business!

  2. Read the book OPM (Other People's Money) by Michael Lechter. This book is part of the Rich Dad's Advisors collection. It will answer most of your questions...if not all.
