  1. Tv is just 2 Chanel's should be able to set your receiver  to share between all speakers. Not truly surround sound.

  2. It depends on what tv you have and how old/new it is. there are a few ways to do it.  If you have a cable box run the same cords except from the cable box.

1.hook up RCA's to the "out" connection on the back of your tv.

    2. use an optical cable from the tv to the receiver.

    3. use an HDMI cable.

  3. I think the sound depends on your tv set if the audio output supports sorround. If your TV has an audio out i think there is a possibility of obtaining true sorround sound. Try to connect the input of your audio to the TV set's audio out and adjust your sound preferences in your audio amplifier or whatever sorround audio system you are using. The sound reception i think is depends also to the audio system output of the TV channels. Some TV channels produces quality sound output others dont. on the other hand if your tv's audio out put is designed only to the TV's speakers (it does not have oudio out then the chances are limited...)

  4. press aux

  5. audio out on your tv to audio in on the reciever

  6. Do you have the cables hooked up to the TV or the DVD player?  You want them connected to the TV.  Verify your installation with the manual.

    Edited:

Yes, the surround sound system has to be on.

  7. Your cable box should have a didgital audio out, it would be either a coaxial connection, or an optical connection.  You would need to get the correct cable, and run it from the cable box to the receiver.  This is the only way to get true surround sound.  If there is no digital audio out from your cable box, you could use the red and white stereo audio connections, this would not give you true surround sound, but the receiver should upconvert the audio to simulate surround sound as best as it can.  Either way, the receiver would have to be on for it to work.

  8. I too bought a home theater system and it too only works for dvd's i called the company they said it wasn't made for tv which was sad cause it cost 200$ but i took it back and got an RCA cheaper and better. The company who doesn't play tv is phillips.
