Passenger side of car got 6-8 inches of water in it during a bad storm that flooded the cornor of the street. I wasnt able to use my shopvac to get the water out because the storm knocked out the power to my house. The next day when i parked it at work i let my windows open to let the floor dry out completly. now it smells horrible. i sprayed an entire can of carpet fresh no vac but it still smells.

  1. you will either have to remove the carpet and clean it or replace the carpet entirely.

  2. I found the best car odor eliminator at Checker Auto.  It is called Innofresh AUTO odor eliminator.  Worked great for both musty dog smell and smoke smells in my car.  It is totally unscented too which I like - just gets rid of the smell instead of those nasty fragrances.  Also, read the labels on those gels and oils - I would never put those in my car after reading them.

I think you can also buy this product direct from company at www.innofresh.com

  3. The floor door sill plates have to be removed and the carpet pulled back to air dry for at least one week.  The entire carpet should be removed to do correctly but in lieu of this, do the pulled back and try to squeeze the excess water from the underlie of the carpet. Dry out the metal floor and to help absorb the moisture, you can lay newspapers on the metal floor and change daily till dried.
