The 3 goes nowhere that close to Sutphin.  

If you live on the northern part of Sutphin, best bet is to get on the J or Z at Sutphin & Archer and transfer to the A or C at Broadway Junction.  

If you live on the southern part you could see how close the B15 bus comes to you.  It goes to New Lots, the 3 train stop in Brooklyn.
