How to get the £ on a us laptop?

its driving me mad. i need to assign it as the $ instead, any ideas how to reassign the keyboard?? thanks

  1. Sorry, I don't know how to assign it but this might work for you ...

    Switch on NumLock.  Now hold down the Alt key (either one) and type 0163 on the numeric keypad.

    This is usually abbreviated to Alt-0163.

    The other way is to use an application like "Character Map" which comes with Windows and is found under All Programs > Accessories on the Start menu.

  3. Control Panel > Regional & Languages > On the first page the top drop down change that the English (UK) > at the bottom change Location to United Kingdom > Advanced > Change the drop down to English (United Kingdom) > Apply & OK.

  4. My apple mac keyboard is laid out like an American one and the £ sign is shift 3. The $ sign is shift 4. The € is alt 2.
