How to get thinking about inventions?

Question

I really want to come up with a cool invention this summer, but I'm at a dead end right now. I'm pretty creative, but I can't think of anything that hasn't been done before. How can I get my mind going on ideas?

Think of unfilled needs.  Think of things you wish you had.  Think of problems in society.  Read all kinds of things with an open mind.  As you learn science, always be thinking of how it might be useful.
