How to get this c**p off my car?

i bought a jeep cherokee with a pretty nice paint color but it looked like the paint was rubbed off in several spots. i just found out that the stuff scrapes off. i cant identify what it is but i dont want to scratch the paint thats is under it. it doesnt scub off even if i scrub really hard. does anyone know of a way to get it off?

you could go to an auto parts store and see what they recommend. not being able to see the stuff, i would say try this first.

Sounds like the clear coat is coming off.  The only way to fix it correctly would be to have it repainted.

You could take it to a body shop like Earl Scheib.  Their Platinum service would give a good base coat clear coat paint job.  Cost would be about $900.
