How to get to Port Douglas?

Question

Im planning on a trip to port douglas this late july,i'll be departing from bali,indonesia. my problem is I am unable of finding the best way of getting there. can anyone help me? thx in advance.

PS: i need something cheap and rather fast, i know that cairns is the nearest airport, CMIIW.

Go to Cairns and take the bus to Port Douglas in daylight hours. It is a 1hr trip north, on one of the most beautiful roads in Australia. If you are backpacking, the hostels have a courtesy bus from Cairns (free). Check out P.D. backpackers on the net :)

Port Douglas is just over 1 hour's drive from Cairns along one of the most scenic roads in Australia. Looks like the best route is Jetstar to Singapore then Cairns, which can be done for about AUD $500 or less if you manage to get a sale fare.

Once you get to Cairns, there are plenty of mini-buses that will take you from direct from the airport to any hotel in Port Douglas.

Make sure you get a seat on the drivers side when you catch  the bus from  the airport and  try and do  the  trip  during daylight. It is arguably one of the prettiest drives in the country.
