Question:

How to get to sleep when scared?

Okay, for the past few years I've had had a lot of trouble sleeping. It's because I'm always scared. My imagination is HUGE and runs wild, and I'm paranoid every second that I'm alone, even in my own room. Sitting here right now in my room typing this, I feel like someone is watching me from behind. To be more exact, the Exorcist. I started getting paranoid and stuff about the exorcist when I got tricked by those screamer things. The maze. Don't you guys hate those?! Ugh, I hate curiosity.

Okay, but the real question is, how can I get a better and fall asleep faster? I get so scared. When I'm on my bed, I HAVE to have my feet inside my blanket. If it's outside in the air, I'll think a serial killer will grab my leg and drag me somewhere to kill me. If I don't face the wall while I sleep and face the open, I'll think a clown is right up to my face just watching me until I wake up. If I don't have my blanket over my head and leave a little tiny hole for me to breathe, I'll think the same thing with the clown, and sometimes even the exorcist. School is starting soon, and I haven't had the time to get used to sleeping early and waking up early! Am I insane? I'm only going into 8th grade this year, and I really need help! Thanks for whoever answers my question and tries to help. Please, if you need anymore details to help me, I'll tell you more about this problem. I really need this solved, I'm always tired because of this.

  1. Did you ever read the alvin shwartz scary stories? With stephen gammels horrific drawings? Those things scared the living **** out of me for years. I have some of the same problems but you have to try to remind yourself that nothings going to happen, nobodies watching you. Try to put on calming music, i usually listen to zeppelin or deep purple. think about happy **** like laying in the grass on a sunny day or something, calm your mind. Just think if anything bad was out to get you, it would have already happened. You being alive is just more proof everythings good. :D

edit: yeah i remember that story haha

  2. im the same way sometimes. haha, if its late and no one else is awake, i feel like i have to run up the stairs so nothing catches me. im starting to stop that though. try listen to music. it helps keep me calm whenever. and try doing things like, for example - me running upstairs. ive just started slowly going up them. forcing myself to not run. after a few times, you realize that its all in your head and no one is going to grab you.

  3. Oh my gosh!

I have the exact same problem. I HATE those pop up things.

And when I watched the Exorcism of Emily rose I had to stay up til 4:00 AM cause the chick always woke up and smelt something burning at 3:00 AM.

I am also paranoid that the guy from saw is going to appear on my tv or someone is going to walk into my door way.

But what I do is make a huge wall of blankets around me so I can't look around and see what's going on around me, and I make myself keep my eyes shut.

And if it helps, turn on a TV and turn on lots of lights.

Sleep on the couch when you have a really bad paranoid night, and turn the TV on and watch some stupid show with the volume down until you fall asleep.

And also make sure that you don't have any clothes piled up in your room or anything that might look like a person standing in your room or you'll get really paranoid.

    Good Luck.

  4. Its about time you spoke with your parents about this phobia and asked them if you can be taken to the doctor about it.  You dont want to be sleeping like this for the rest of your life.

Another thing is to stop watching horror movies, they obviously dont agree with your temperament.

  5. talk to someone about this you can't let fear run your life, you need to realize there is nothing there and nothing will happen. do you sleep with a night light or something, i sleep with a tv on cause the sound and light help me get to sleep.
