Question:

How to get to sleep with ADHD?

Whenever I try to get to sleep I always find myself getting distracted and staying up many times until 3 or later. My pediatrician says it is because of my ADHD-namely the "hyper" part. If I manage to avoid distractions my mind is like a TV I can't turn off.

Please help this is adversely affecting my schoolwork and social life.

  1. If you take pills for ADHD it will keep you up at night, so if you are taking pills take them early in the morning so they will wear off by the time you go to bed.

I have ADHD too, and the only way I can go to sleep is tire myself out physically. I would run with my dogs for about an hour or two before showering and going to sleep. Its good for you and it helps I promise.

    Good luck

P.S. It makes your body look great!

  3. try square breathing, it calms me when my mind is racing, it will put me to sleep. here's how; breath in till the count of four, hold for 4, breath out till the count of 4 hold for 4, repeat till your on the verge of sleep, let your mind be blank. this is also really helpful for panic attacks

  4. try avoiding caffeine at night, pop or coffee.

  5. it must be h**l... a small thing you can do and the more you do it the easier it becomes.. it is like strengthening a muscle. concentrate on a small object observe how it looks feels etc as soon as your mind wanders bring it back to the object ,you will find this tiring but also strengthening...... best wishes.
