  1. the only way that you are going to be able to run well in spikes is to break into so you most run alot in them.


  2. You need to ease into them. Start by doing a few strides.

    Then you can do some short intervals.

    You should not wear them for your entire work out, only for some of the fast intervals.

    Even if you are used to them your calves may be sore after the first meet.

You should not have to get used to running spikes.  If your spikes fit you correctly they will fell great when you put them on and run in them.  At most, a few strides or a speed workout in them should be enough,  Spikes do not have to be broken in.  If you are having any trouble running in your spikes you're wearing the wrong spikes.  Because spike fit is so critical you must always try them on before buying.  It is usually a mistake to order them online unless you are buying a pair you have already run in.
