Question:

How to get work as a freelance proof-reader?

I've proof-read thousands of publicity brochures and theatre programmes, play scripts, pamphlets and putative publications as part of jobs I have had in the past. In fact, frequently as part of someone else's job in order to cover for them.

Due to family circumstances I am very restricted as to any employment I can commit to ( I am caring for my father, who had a minor stroke several months ago ) and so would like to work, mainly, from home.

I am more than averagely aware of the workings of the publishing industry, but have no contacts. I do know how to mark up a proof.

If there is anyone out there who needs a quick reader to work through their slush pile I'd be willing.
