i was cited for drinking at a party when i was 18. I went to court and had to appear in front of a judge. i am pretty sure that it is on my record and was wondering if there is anyway that i can get it expunged and if so must i get a lawyer or is it possible to do it on my own.

  1. You can probably do it yourself.  If you can find the web site where the court forms are, you can download a Motion and Order for Expungement.  If you can't find the site, go to the court where you appeared in front of the Judge and ask the Court Clerk for the Court form.  They won't fill it out for you and they cannot give legal advice, but they can give you the form.  Fill the form out and then file it with the court, there will be a filing fee.  You will be given a hearing date and you appear before the Judge and plea your case.

  2. .   No lawyer needed.  Visit the Clerk of the Superior Court.  He will tell you in 1 minute if this is possible or if you are just dreaming.  Of course, it is possible but will this judge ever allow it?

  3. if you were underage , it has to been kept under lock and key FOR EVER.

Minors have rights and those situations are NEVER MADE PUBLIC.

In some states you would not be a minor but an adult instead. In that case you would have to get it expunged. Go to the District Atty. office in your district and he can get it expunged IF he thinks your a good person and worthy of it.

He will have to get a Judge to sign off on it. You could offer to do the leg work for the D.A. and speed things up by going to the Judges office. This does not have to be brought up in court if you can get these people to help you. If you have questions , ask the county Clerk. Its all up to them if they will help. I hope you have a good reason , like registering for Harvard or something , this citation is rather minor anyway.
