A proven method that works at our house and we have tried everything but to no avail is ...water. Ants will not live where there homes are destryoed by water. Get a sprayer novel and spray where you see the ants. It works.

Borid dust, Termidor, Demon WP, Talstar, Drax Combo Syringe, Gourmet liquid ant bait. All of these work really well. (Trust me, we've had ants before) Also, this link can give you a few more ideas if you need them.

Go to the drug store and get this stuff that comes in a little tub that makes the ants go in and die and never come out... sounds mean but it works

Put little piles of cornmeal around wherever they are and they will take it back to their little holes and eat it, but it kills them. Its nice because its not harmful to the environment or your family or pets!

ants do not like garlic, if you have some brake it open and rub it over the area you wish to rid the ants from do it regular about every 3 to 5hrs over the next 24hrs works well in the kitchen:)
