  1. Tip as in tax or tip as in at a restaurant. Restaurant 10% if tax thats a 17.5% smacker

  2. We dont really tip in the UK....if u do want to tip usually people just say keep the change...or...or leave a few extra pounds with the bill...but its done very rarely over here thinking about it....

  3. Tipping in the UK is not the norm, except for hairdressers and taxi drivers and a few instances like that.

  4. Visit a properly paid and proud country like Australia instead and just DONT TIP. It's demeaning!

  5. the only things i tip in the uk are taxis and the hairdresser.. wierd!

  6. We don't really tip in hte UK.

  7. Tipping is definitely rarer in the UK - while it's expected in North America, people might even try to return your change in England.

  8. In the UK you are expected to tip in restaurants (but not fast food restaurants)...you should also tip your hairdresser and the taxi driver...

A rough guide is around 10% of whatever you are paying would be fair.

If you are unsure in a restaurant, have a look at the bill - sometimes it says on the bottom that a 10% service charge has been included, or gives you an opportunity to pay a service charge....if it says nothing at all and you want to tip then around 10% is about right.

    Hope that helps

Edit:  If you stay in a hotel you might want to tip people bringing things to your room or carrying your bag or whatever...it isn't entirely expected.  Ã‚£1 would look a bit cheap...£2 would be perfectly acceptable...anything more than that and you'll have people knocking on your door day and night! LOL

I'd actually ask the receptionist when I arrived, 'what is the hotel policy on tipping?'  If they say it's up to you then that's fair enough - if they say that they don't encourage it - then you know not to offend anyone.

    Have a great time!!!
