Ok, I have two GP's. I know that they need an unlimited supply of hay, but I like them to have a neat and tidy cage not covered in hay and stuff. And also, when I just plop a pile of hay on the floor of their cage, like half gets eaten and the other half gets thrown around. I know it's fun for them to have it on the floor to play with, but I have two, and other sweet things for them to play with, so I don't think that'll be an issue with finding another way to give it to them.

I was thinking of making like a cardboard bowl sort of (Like cut off the end of a 12 pack of soda or something. What do you guys think of that? Or would that even help?

  1. You can get hay hoppers for there cages I have one for my rabbits it attaches to the side and has openings for them to eat the hay from so it doesn't get all over.

I got mine from Petland they are only a couple bucks

  2. Try putting a towel arond the cage and throw away all of the spillings!

  3. at the spca i volunteer at - we use hay for the rabbits cages  and GP and we use a cleaned and empty cat litter pan for cheaper not as edible hay(not moldy or dusty) as compared to the timothy hay that you feed them -  - the rabbit lays in it

and eats the timothy just fine the GP- he get a hidey hole thing like an igloo to chill out in - doesnt get hay to lay in - but i bet you could do the same - if its really half they are thowing - then feed less - but when feeding hay to lots of other animals like goats and horses you will always get  left over hay - its how you feed it that you could change to make clean up easier - like a hay feeder as opposed to throwing it on the cleanest corner of the cage or in a bowl
