How to give wireless router a new ip?

we have a dsl. I am trying to install a wireless router (Planet wrt 416) which replaces my old linksys one.

I have installed the hardware and all, and my system even shows the wireless connected but my internet doesn't work. I remember last time with the linksys router there was some ip conflict which some computer savy friend of ours fixed.

i think i need to change the ip of the router but i have no idea how to do this. Please help.

P.S. i've tried the windows 'repair' but it gets stuck on the "renewing ip address" step for hours.

  1. You need to connect to the wireless router to renew the IP.

If you aren't sure, there should be a reset button to hard reset the device. Set your machine to DHCP, and it should work.
