Question:

How to go about a Chinese Buffet?

I'm going to a chinese buffet for lunch. How do you go about the buffet scene? Load up on a couple favorite items or several small portions? Do you get soup? Should I go for the Mongolian BBQ? Should I waste precious stomach space for rice and noodles?

Tell me how you go about it, and your favorite item at a chinese buffet.

I will choose a best answer after my meal is done

  1. Get your fill of the more expensive items first, then go back for the noodles and rice if you have room.  Usually, all the good stuff is towards the end of the buffet.

  2. ease up on the carbo! dont totally skip them.. just take a little to get a taste of it. try to get a small serving of everything! then close in on your favs until you're almost full.. =) some people prefer to drink the soup before they start.. but i find that it makes me feel full faster.. so i tend to drink the soup after i have eaten the main dishes.. but before dessert. it can wash away some of the greasiness of the bbq too~ haha.. my fav item will definitely be the soup.. enjoy your lunch!!

  3. I tend to have small portions of whatever looks fresh. Typically my favorite is Mongolian beef. For Mongolian BBQ I prefer restaurants which specialize in it. Their selection tends to be larger.

  4. You must've eaten your brain for lunch today if you had to go and ask a question such as this one.

  5. mongolian bbq is fun.  maybe try a spicy peanut sauce & tofu.  YUM!  yes, save room for noodles.  they're good.  my fave thing on a chinese buffet is the macaroon section.  second fave, spicy broccoli or green beans.

    chow down!

  6. I usually take a small amount (usually 1 a piece) of anything I see that I like and load up my plate.

  7. just get a little bit of everything

you like i get noodles and orange chicken

    ans ome vegetables yum=]

  8. i head for crab rangoon every time, egg-rolls, general taos chicken is usually pretty good too. i stay away from rice but if they have noodles i take a small amount to see if they're good enough to get more. also, save room for the sweets. they usually have some desert options. i never get the soap, its seems to have more water than needed to stretch it in the places I have visited. the beef of chicken on a stick type items are usually tasty or they have some battered chicken chunks that go well w/ a sweet & sour sauce.

  9. sesame chicken is my favorite.  yum!  On the first round, load up on your faves (leave out the rice and noodles).  When you go for seconds get out of your comfort zone a bit and try other things! Then go for a third if you can.

Don't forget the chinese donuts...they're amazing.  I wish i lived at a chinese buffet lol
