How to go madurai from mumbai via plane or by train?

how much time i've to spent in train .......& if i go by plane then is it direct to madurai if not then from dat airport by which mode of travel i can reach to madurai?

pls help.....i'm so confused.....first time, i'm going to south india.....

I am from tamilnadu near madurai.U come from train.That is best ,enjoyable and convinent.Suppose if u in urgent journey u choose plain journey.U first come chennai and then go to madurai.

From mumbai there Indian Airlines and Jet airways are the only operators for direct flight to madurai.

If you go by train then Nagarcoil express is the only train option for u.

Indian airlines, Kingfisher & Jet airways all fly to madurai but either stop at Chennai/Bangalore, i presume there are no direct flights, chk the link for flight details
