  1. Try a shedding blade.  They work really good on short haired dogs and are also used for horses.

  2. I don't hunt but if hunting season is beginning of winter or summer then ya she'll shed more. They change coats before each of those seasons. Buy a ZoomGroom from Petsmart. It's rubbery and helps grip loose or dead hair and get it out instead of sitting in the coat and falling out when she brushes up against something at home, ect.

  3. Find a groomer who does a treatment called the Fur-minator.  I have never used it, but my friend has, and it worked great.

  4. Get a Furminator! They are awesome and available at most pet stores. It says that it eliminates 90% of shedding if you use it for 15 minutes a week. I also have a short haired dog and it is the greatest thing ever!!! Highly recommend.

  5. brush it

  6. With knives and other life threatening objects

  7. take her to a grooming place

  8. I suggest a furminator if you want to put in that expense (about $100), they work awesome!!!. Also a shedding blade (a metal strip that has jagged edges in the shape of a "u" and will not harm your dog at all) would work well, I love them. I would say for the least amount of money to spend, a grooming glove would be perfect. This slides over your hand like a mitt and has a gentle brushing surface on both sides. This is very comfortable for the dog because to the dog it is almost just like you are petting them.

If you chose to purchase the furminator, try finding a store that has a deal that you get the small bottle of shampoo free with it, that will help a lot. Expect to (for best results) use the furminator once a week for probably about half and hour, you will see a drastic change after the 2nd week. Expect some excess shedding right after though because the stress of doing is a cause of shedding.

With the shedding blade, best results would be achieved by using this on your dog probably every 3-4 days.

Using the glove, I would do it every day for about 5 minutes maybe..and I would find that to be plenty.

Best thing for your dog's coat is really to brush it every day, but the above will be just fine, especially with a breed that does not tangle. Not only does brushing help prevent tangles, but it also promotes a healthier skin for your pet, thus helping shedding.
