They like lots of organic matter in the soil. If it's very hot where you live you might want to give them some shade. They like moist soil so mulch is a must if you experience dry weather. They are slow growing so it might be too late this year.If you live where it freezes, they are best started indoors late winter or very early spring. If you can grow melons then you probably have the right conditions for bitter melon.
