How to grow potatoes in the uk?

I love potatoes and eat them everyday, recently ive been thinking of growing my own, but have no idea where i would start.... im in central uk, could you help me with these questions..

1. what do i need to buy to get me started, and where from?

2.how long does it take from the time of planting to the time of eating your first potato?

3.is it an easy task for someone who has no experience in growing vegetables?

  1. you are now in mid summer over there, go to your garden centre and ask for the early maturing type, it takes about 3 months to get a good crop, you might strike it lucky either way, as the plant grows you may be able to burrow into the dirt and grab the young ones as they develop, don't use to much nitrogenous fertiliser because you will get heaps of green leaves and small potatoes, and finally spray every 2 weeks with a copper solution to stop blight. go you good thing
