I sowed the seeds of edible Pumpkin (from Indian store) and they started growing (to my surprise!). I live in an apartment (in PA) with a balcony that receives mild sunshine in the evenings. I have kept the 6 inch pot on the bedroom window sil that receives good sunshine. Due to size constraints, I can't keep the plant there for long. The pot has about 4 pumpkin plants that are growing fast day by day, and I am worried that I should be able to save them- if not see them bear the pumpkin! How can I maintain them in my deck? Can I keep trimming the plant as it grows and keep the size within 3*3 feet space? I wish to take the plant with me, when I move to a bigger place later next year. Please help me with good suggestions. Thank you..

  1. I hope you have a large apartment. The experience I've had with pumpkins leads me to believe that you need to triple the size of you pots and with T.L.C. and careful fertilization you may be able to maintain your garden. When it starts to put on pumpkins you could put a shelf on the wall, the next pumpkin, the next shelf. Make your plants grow up the wall.

  2. try keeping them in a bigger pot on the patio.  they should do just fine.
