  1. have a look at budgietalk.com

  2. http://www.petbudgie.com/cage

    http://www.freewebs.com/charliefeathers/...

These websites helped a lot with tameing them plus they have a lot mor stuff about budgies.

  3. It sounds as if  these are your first birds. I would start out by getting a book on Budgies from the Pet store. I use to a have a couple of budgies and the book was helpful in giving me an introduction on how to care for them.

First, normally what most bird owners do is clip the feathers on the wings so that they will not be able to fly too far or too high. Secondly, I use to pick up my budgies by throwing (quickly) a soft hand towel or other small piece of cloth over their backs and then (GENTLY) pick them up without squeezing too hard. I  would do this in an enclosed environment, like a small room in your home (e.g. the bathroom, or bedroom) until you get the hang of it.

The best advice I can you give you (I hope you follow it) is to go to your local pet store and have them demonstrate to you how to handle a budgie and how to clip the feathers on the wings. Reading this will not be helpful at all to you, it is better if you see it first hand.By the way, a small tip, don't place your budgies near drafts (e.g. by the window or near the entrance of your home)  they can catch a cold and this can kill them, that's how mine died, but I did enjoy them for several years. Good luck and have fun.

  4. budgies are one of the breeds of birds who are very hard to tame, even hand fed babies most of the time never tame up or remain tamed. I suggest not allowing it to mean so much to you that you get frustrated or your feeling hurts when your bird never tames up like you wish it would. If you want a hand tamed one I suggest finding a breeder in your area who hand feeds and gartentees them to be tamed after weening and get one from there. Otherwise you may set yourself up for a heart ache when your bird never acts like you want it to. Your bird will be happier if you learn to respect it's space and love it from across the room and not trying to handle it at all.

  5. Hi!

When I got my budgie, I read a bunch of books from the library about these parrots. They're very educational and tell you a lot about what you should and shouldn't do. When your budgie is in his cage, slowly put your hand in, stick out only one finger and slowly approach the budgie. He might fly away at first, but keep doing this every day. Also, when he is sitting on his perch, gently (extremely gently) push him backwards with your finger in his stomach area. Then, he will have a choice to either climb onto your finger or fall off of the perch. Most of the time they choose your finger ;). After you repeatedly do this, he will learn to come to your finger whenever you put your hand in the cage. I once had the opportunity to meet a person that works with all kinds of birds and gets them to do unbelievable things. Someone there asked him his trick. Besides saying that it was a secret, he gave a clue. He said train them in the dark. I haven't tried this yet, but it may work for you. Once you have him sort of trained give him a small bouncy ball or something. Then, if he gets attached to it he will follow the ball wherever you put it, and then you pretty much have a trained budgie! Good Luck! I hope this helped!
