I used to wear jeans that cost under 60 bucks, but now that I got a job I'm buying jeans in the 120$-200$ range, and I wanna keep them in good condition, and was wondering how do i hand wash them?

Since i live in AZ, the water in my washing machine is HOT, and fades the jeans.

So how do i hand wash my jeans? Do I use Woolite or Tide for colors?

Should I use Ice cold water? Is washing them in my sink ok? How much detergent do i put in? How do I dry the jeans?

  1. You can use your bathtub or stationary tub to throughly wash your jeans... Just use WOOLITE for DARKS and very little of it.... Turn the jeans INSIDE/OUT.  Fill the tub with a few inches of cool or cold water and add just a bit of soap.... Put jeans in the water and swish around for while... Until you think they are clean.... Drain water and fill tub up with plenty of cold clear water and rinse jeans throughly.  You may have to repeat this step 1 or 2 times.... Then roll jeans in a towel and remove excess water.. Hang....

    Good luck

Or take your jeans to the dry cleaner...

  2. It's pretty difficult to hand wash jeans.  If you can't run cool water in your washer, is it possible to bring cool water to your washer - like in a bucket?  If you can, you can wash your jeans on gentle.  I'd use a detergent that's color safe.

You know, if your main fear is that your jeans will fade, maybe you could do what I used to do.  Pour a box of table salt into the washer with your new jeans and let them soak in the salt water for awhile - no detergent.  It's always helped the color set in my jeans.
