  1. I go 12" for strength.  8 on a ceiling.

  2. Your wall studs should be 16" on center And I do my screws about every 4" to 6" apart and put the screws in just enough pasdt the sheetrock paper .to far will cause the s***w to go threw and to little will cause problems and be seen when you mud the seems and holes .

  3. worried about screws? buy some great stuff foam, spray it on the studs stick your sheetrock and s***w the perimeter. No need for field screws. You will have to bow your drywall for a day or two first. Or just s***w or nail every six inches

  4. See the link below....

  5. Put a s***w within an inch of the joint and every six to eight inches in the field. The object is to set the s***w head just below the plane surface of the drywall paper face yet not breaking it. If you're not using a screwgun with a cone, use a drywall #2 phillips bit on your drill. It will have a little metal "cone" on it which will stop the s***w with the proper amount of dimpling.
