Ok, I'm a defender in football but I got alot of power on my left leg (Left handed) also on my right it's acceptable, but I don't have the best accuracy or control. I've been playing since I was two and it hasn't really affected me till now that I haven't fixed this problem, how can I fix this problem and have more control and be more accurate?

  1. Alright I've been a defender for about 7 years now and I start on my high school team.  Its all about your non kicking foot.  Whichever angle you plant you non kicking foot in is the general direction your body is going to to swing around the ball, causing the ball to go in the direction.  Also if you lean back when you are striking the ball while placing your non kicking foot slightly behind the ball it will have more lift and go slower, where as if you lean over the ball and place you non kicking foot slightly in front you will have more of a line drive with power.  As a defender you usually want to clear it out so i suggest planting you foot a little bit in front of the ball and leaning back a bit  Now if you want to get fancy it can have some part to do with your kicking foot whether you kick it with the inside or outside of your foot but the way I'm reading the question you are just asking how to kick the ball accurately.

  2. hey please don't listen to the guy who said you just need to stop the team scoring. I play football over in england, I'm not sure how you play it in the states but we also need to have skill as a defender as this is where most of the ball comes from. control and accuracy can only come with practice you must train on this two two with a mate, just simple long passes to each other, your be able to control the pass coming and then, complete a pass yourself.

  3. Get a ball and run with it for about 10 minutes , and then stop for 3 minutes !

Do this for about 1 hour !

that will make your control better !

You will be comfortable with the ball in your feet !

and if you are a defender, when you are playing just got pressure your opponent and that will make him do mistakes!

    good luck !

  4. when you go to practice, try kicking and dribbling with your right foot, it will be hard at first, but you will be begining to notice a change after a few weeks.
