Question:

How to heal after a Charley Horse???

It's been almost 2 days since I woke up with a Charley Horse in my right calf. Of course, it's gone now, but my leg still hurts terribly. I'm even walking with a slight limp to help ease the pain.

What can help it feel better?

  1. Charley Horses are caused by so many things such as low potassium, not enough water, over worked leg muscles. When I get a charley horse I stretch the muscle that hurts. I then grab a small towel and soak it with hot water, ring it out and lay it on the muscle, that usually loosens it up right away. A good pressure point to try is when you get the charley horse or feel one coming on, is to squeeze your upper lip. Just take your thumb and index finger and squeeze and hold. That has helped me also. For the soreness you still feel, I would keep using moist heat. Just take a towel, soak it with hot hot water, ring it out, then wrap it around your calf. Do this several times, at least twice a day. For a couple days, take an 800 Mg Ibuprofen, if you don't have high blood pressure or are allergic to aspirin. One other thing I will tell you, and it is more for leg tiredness and the legs just don't feel good. Lay on the floor and rest the heels of both feet up on the cushion of a chair or sofa, your legs will really be elevated. Just lay like that for at least ten minutes or more, and while they are up there, move them frontward, then backward, then sort of move your toes in a circle movement. This will help blood drain back into the legs quicker. After at least ten minutes, stand up and you will feel like you are walking on a cloud. Best to you young lady, and I hope the soreness leaves before you know it. Good luck.
