  1. You legs hurts because you are standed up a lot cooking. You need be seated for some minutes or curl up and down while you are cooking. If it is impossible to do it you can go to some therapist or massagist. It can help also with your arm/wrist too.Try to use some patches and some medications such as motrin can help.Good luck.I hope you get better soon.

  2. Standing in one place for hours is harder on your legs than walking or jogging.

You may want to get in the habit of shifting your weight and flexing your legs while you work.  If you do it often enough, it probably will become an automatic reflex.   Also, footwear and arch support are critically important.

I worked in food service, restaurants and catering for years, but strictly front-of-the house.    I had to do a lot of walking, which isn't as hard on the legs.    But I knew a lot of people who cooked.

Whenever you have the opportunity, flex your legs.     I know that isn't possible during peak/rush times in a busy restaurant kitchen.

You may also want to shop for some shoe inserts with arch support; they made quite a difference for me.   Also, when you get home after work, lie down, and elevate your legs, perhaps with a couple of pillows under them.      I always sleep with a pillow under my knees when sleeping on my back; it eases the strain on the legs and spine.

It shouldn't make you weak, nor do I think that you're unhealthy, you just need to do a few simple things.

As far as the arm/wrist pain goes, probably some light curls with a weight, not too repetitive will loosen up your muscles--they probably get too tight when you're working, holding implements and pans for hours, also.     Loosen up your arms/wrists after work.

    Good luck to you.
