  1. ride under the horse and then push against the ground just at the right moment.

  2. I actually started with caveletties.  Then moved to ground poles and jumps.  Before I would jump my guy I would walk him up and let him look at it, if he wanted he jump it from a walk/ stand still.  I had him jumping 2 feet in about a week.

  3. First off, seriously consider getting a trainer. Teaching a horse anything isnt to be taken lightly.

Second, make sure they are OK to jump. One of my friends just discovered a sever stifle issue in her newly purchased horse that will severly limit what she can do without pain. The issue could have been found before the buy but not pre-purchase was done. Jumping training is now disrupted as the horse tries to heal from issues relating to the stifle and the horse will never be able to work do hard training without going lame.

Third, take it slow. You want to push them a little but dont ovewhelm them. They will all have their own way of telling you when they have enough. You want to quit on a good note before they decide to show their displeasure.

Training to jump is not something that can be taught over the internet. A timeline that works for one horse may not for another. There are also other aspects of a jump course besides the actual fences. Take any advice people give you with a grain of salt.

  4. Ok. Yeah, I trained my horse too! I just lunged her over a 1 foot jump, then 2 foot, than 2.5, than 3 than i kept on going up gradually. Now shes jumping 5 6'

  5. I also trained my horse to jump.

If you want to buy jumps then you can, i make my own.  Well, for a week or two, a just jumped over poles to get my horse use to them and to get my horse to get controll of him after the jump. Then i raised it up to a foot and i just kept jumping and jumping untill he cleared it every time and then about a month later, i raised it up to two... Then you can gradually raise it up two inches about every week, or untill he clears it, then dont go any higher than 2 and a half feet untill you haved jumped that for a year. Good luck. jumping is awesome

  6. Yes, let her look at everything (jumps, poles, ect) whenever you change them. Start with walking, trotting, and cantering over poles until she has mastered them. Then, you can start with a very small cross rail. Let her look at it. Just trot over if a few times, getting her pointed straight at it and not letting her stop at it. Make sure to squeeze her off the ground. As soon as she's comfortable with that you can start to raise them, slowly and not all at once. Eventually you can try lines and vertical's. Do everything slowly though. Don't push her too hard. And don't jump her every time you ride her. Good luck!

I would also suggest looking up a training guide for this. =)
