  1. Our most expressive times are usually:

-Circle Time or Show and Tell (children bring in something from home to show and talk about).

-Play time-children play together in role play games and often talk will naturally begin.

-Snack Time-we talk about food, what we eat at home, food we like, dont like etc.

-Story time-we talk about pictures, what is happening inthe story etc.

  2. Please recognize that "conversate" is not a word.

To get youngsters to converse, you need to talk on their level and about things that interest them. Do not be surprised if children do not talk to each other, especially if they have some difficulty with speech or language. However, they will probably be excited to carry on a conversation with an adult--so gather the children in a stimulating activity (like art or a sensory activity like play dough) and talk to them about what they are doing. Ask them an open question, and respond every time they speak to you--children will learn a lot when you model proper conversational skills!

  3. actually this would be pre-kindergarten age, as kindergarten age is 5-6 year olds.

i would have them practice in a naural environment.  lunch, circle time and snack times are a great time for conversations.  sit with our class and let them just talk to each other.  guide their language if it goes into another language other than english.  ask them to use full sentences when someone asks them a question.  example:  would you like a cracker?  child:  no, mrs. ???? i would not like a cracker.  don't accept just a yes, yeah, no or nope answer.  talk to the children a lot and encourage the parents to do the same at home  with dinner conversations and full sentences.

  4. Circle time is always a great place to have conversations

Calender? Day of week ?What will tomorrow be? What month? What was yesterday? What year?

Weather? Talk about the weather outside? Have a weather bear you dress according to the weather

    Read a story and discuss

Have children talk about their pictures when they are drawing

House keeping  is  always great: Make a restaurant &  have kids pretend  to order food, house, store etc

    Morning message

Count how people are at school? How many boys? How many girls? Who is missing today?

Sing songs? Play games? Candyland? Memory?
