  1. Give him some sugar... i'm sure that will help him alot.

  2. i have a family member with this problem and a friend! i sit down and talk about things that is going on with them. what i tell them is to take there time when they talk and to help them from being restlessness its just going to become a bigger problem its going to turn into  them to wanting to running around, start stuff or maybe destory things--> what u should do is to try and keep her active or busy. help her with work and talk to her. keep her calm

  3. There are 3 types of ADHD:

    1) Inattentive (have a hard time paying attention/focusing)

    2) Hyperactive-Impulsive (often fidgets and squirms)

    3) Combined (a combination of both)

Treatment can include behavior therapy, medication (usually a stimulant), or a combination of both. Some studies suggest that a certain diet can help subdue symptoms.

Some children grow out of ADHD, and sometimes it can carry on throughout adulthood.

Ask the psychiatrist you saw about the program, he/she should know about it.

  4. there is a great book..

Driven To Distraction : Recognizing and Coping with Attention Deficit Disorder from Childhood Through Adulthood by Edward M. Hallowell and John J. Ratey (Paperback - Mar 2, 1995)

it helped me a lot..I would not have made it through school without it. check it out you can get it on amazon

  5. I had adhd as a child and still do..sometimes children grow out of it! Start her on a medication..try something that is not a stimulant like Strattera, which is not a real dangerous medication! You will probably see a change in her..My mom said one minute i'd be really hyper in the morning and then she'd give me my meds and I'd actually fall asleep, thats how bad my ADHD was. Anyway start her on routine..that is the best thing for it! Don't give her any extra sugars to make her hyper either, an occassional treat is fine though! good luck! Hopefully you can get her in line before she starts school, thats when you can really see the ADHD in a child.

  6. Here is a link that might help you. It's written in plain english, which makes it easier to understand.

One thing I know is that a kid should be older then 4 or almost 5 before being diagnosed, since the attention span of kids that age hasn't fully developed. Most of the time it's diagnosed in 6 or 7 year olds.

I personally wouldn't put her on meds yet. Kids that age are restless and sometimes it seems herding fleas is easier. Give her plenty opportunity to be active outdoors and get rid of some energy.

Forgot to say that if she seems to be very inquisitive and smart she also could be talented and gifted. Both my kids are and I had teachers tell me to test them for ADHD. The symptoms sometimes are similar since TAG kids get bored with mundane tasks and their mind wanders to things that interests them more.
