Question:

How to help the nausea from a cold?

I have a cold and it's not bothering me too much except that I keep feeling sick and getting stomach pains.

I really don't want to wake up in the night feeling sick or with stomach pains because I'll panic- I have a phobia of throwing up or getting diarrhea...

Is there anything I can do?

  1. Well This may be a bout of stomach flu, without an initial assessment from a physician it is hard to diagnose you. If you are sick or are really concerned about being sick. COnsult your GP and they may be able to advise a low state of anti-Emetic which disengages the gag and vomit reflex. It may not cure the stomach pains or the nausea but if your dr grants u access to them, you are alot less likely to actually be sick.

  2. Wear sea-band motion sickness bracelets.  They work great on nausea.  Drink clear soda not water because it is easier on your stomach.  You can also take dramamine or other motion sickness pills.  I have sever pain which causes nausea and these things have helped me a lot.  The bracelets are great and I have even put them on my 8yr old son when he gets sick and wants to vomit and it helps.  He thinks they are magic.

By the way vomiting and diarrhea are not the end of the world just a nasty part of it.  Think of it as a natural human happening and not some freak situation.  At some point in life it will happen.  May you be blessed and hope you feel better.

EDIT: You can get a Dr. to prescribe some Phenegine (not sure how to spell it) gel or pills.  It works great but causes you to be sleepy and not all in there, similar to Rx pain meds.  I used it when the symptoms were at there worst and got it from my family doctor.  You can also get it in a shot, but that works real fast and if like me you would be way out of it =)
