  1. Personally, place the ball back in your stance, roughly an inch or two from center.  close the clubface slightly; this will give you more forgiveness and accuracy. Take the club back as usually and focus on making solid contact.  Take the club back half to three quarters back and swing.

As with all shots, PRACTICE the punch shot.  You'll be surprised how much this shot will help you on the course.

I believe the punch shot is one of the most useful specialty shots you can play, any skill level. It helped me...!

  2. HAHA i agree with the answer before, there is NO WAY you got down to a 2 without learning how to hit a punch.  Either that, or you play where there is never any wind.  Even then, a punch is a necessity on a course with trees, so where are you playing?  The local mini-golf course does not count man...

  3. Be more careful than normal aligning your clubface.  Back in your stance--couple of inches.

Think bury the club in the ground.  You won't but it's a great swing thought.  Don't be a wimp with the swing...take a rip.  You will be amazed how straight and long you can hit this shot.

  4. club farther back in your stance, hands in front of your club, and hit down on the ball

  5. how can you be a 2 handicap when you don't know how to hit a punch shot?

  6. What I do, is narrow my stance a bit. Play the ball back in my stance and swing back to the 9 oclock position. Start your downswing with your hips rotating and be aggressive with the swing! If you slow down you'll hit a bad shot guaranteed. At impact make sure to have your wrists well ahead of the ball and finish at the 10 oclock position on the other side.

Hope I helped and have fun! I love this shot.

  7. I find it hard to believe that you are a 2 handicap yet dont know how to do a punch shot? Seriously... when you started playing golf at the maximum handicap... are you sure you "never really needed this shot"? Thats bull man.. how the h**l did you get down to 2 then?

You didnt. You didnt fool anyone kid.

  8. Play the ball back in your stance

    Move your hand forward.

    Choke up on the club

    Swing 3/4 to 1/2 swing

  9. Hands more forward than normal. Swing slower. Lower finish. Choke down on the club. Take it 3/4ths of the way back but still accelerate through the ball at impact. It will take some practice to work out the distances. Good luck!
