How to hit hard in volleyball?

how do you get up high enough to get on top of the ball.. and make a really good swing and slam it in their face.

  2. I got 5 words for you:

    AS HARD AS YOU CAN.

  3. well that all starts w/ your approach.

    first you start off w/ your knees slightly bent

    (if you are right handed)

    you will take a medium step with your left leg. (kind of falll into the step) and let your arms hang down in front of you

    as you make the quick  right left steps bring your arms back as far as they can go.

    then lift your body up with both arms. find the ball. and swing.

      since you have  had your knees bent, and your arms way back then you can get at least 2-4 inches added on to what you are currently jumping.

    other things:

    1. The quicker your approach the more momentum you will have to jump higher and swinger harder.

    2. Make sure you follow through your swing and snap your wrist.

    3. Bring your other arm down straight when you swing, so it doesn't twist your body around.

    4. Before you swing  arch your body back so that you are using your core and more of your body for power in your swing.

    don't get discouraged if you don't get it right away. b/c it will make the timing different from whatever you are doing now. I'm having to do the same thing. & at least for me, finding the new timing is tough.

    make sure its not your gf/bf on the recieving end of the hit...i knock my gf on her butt and she didnt talk to be the rest of the day...

  5. Train up your upper body, and you need to get your timing right. You also need a decent vertical jump. Still, without strength, or even hitting hard, you can make the reception difficult by adding a ton of topspin or simply by aiming well. This one guy on our team, he's really short compared to the others, but he just aims and does topspin so well that he's in the Div. 1 team for reps (my team hehe). Still hitting hard is a bonus.

  6. When you take off of your approach, make sure after you left, right, together step.. you THROW back your arms and bend your knees before jumping. This will help you to get a HIGHER jump. Remember to SNAP YOUR WRIST when you make contact with the ball. I basically just learned if I have a good approach, and hit the ball at perfect contact, then use ALL OF MY POWER to just kill the volleyball, it will go in. (: That's the KEY to hitting it in court rather than to the back wall.

  7. use your arms to get momentum while you jump (for more vert)

    you need to snap your wrist in a way that your palm slaps that ball similar to somebody snapping a wet towel or whip... Wapish!
