How to hook up a wind turbine to a house?

I recently built one and i was wondering how I hook it up to my house or how i hook it up to batteries or something like that. I have 2 copper wires coming out of the windmill and yes i know that its not going to produce a lot of power. but i want to do it anyway Thanks!

  1. It is quite complicated and expensive to hook any wind turbine into your house's electrical system.  You certainly cannot do this yourself -- there's all sorts of dangers.

    Your best bet is to hook this up to a system of batteries which could supply your house with emergency lighting.  This system would not hook into your AC at all.  Measure the voltage from the windmill, and put a bunch of rechargeable batteries in your basement.  Car batteries fine.  Make sure the voltage matches -- if your mill puts out 12V, then charge one car battery, or two in parallel.  Then, run wires and switches to some 12V bulbs in selected spots in your house.
