How to hook up video cam to laptop ?

ok i got this sony ccdtrv128 handycam model video cam and i was wondering if its possible to hook it up to my hp dv6324 notebook ? and if its not possible then any other way i can tranfer the video to my laptop?

  1. ccd-trv128 is an analog hi-8 vcam. Only digital video/pics can be uploaded to a pc, so that a video capture device plus application is needed to convert the analog video stream to digital.

    yours is one of the latest powerful PCs and it wud be worthwhile to invest in a good partner, i.e., a good digital vcam, e.g., a minDV tape-based at the very least (best for editing & prices have gone down drastically), one which wud give u already a raw digital video... and NOT a converted analog video where u'll definitely lose quality or a slice of your beauty on cam.

    Just add more or less $100 for the digital vcam vs. getting a capture device... and you get a lot of benefits - t'is smaller, easier to cable-connect digital vcam direct to ur pc...

    ...and gives much better quality. Just a food for thought.
