  1. The DVD player gets hooked up directly to the TV.  Presumably, your TV has various sets of inputs.  If it's an HDTV, it will probably have an HDMI, more than one set of component inputs (red, blue, green) plus audio (red and white), and perhaps a set of composite inputs (red, white, yellow).  If you have a relatively new DVD player, it may have an HDMI output (which carries both audio and video).  If it doesn't, use the component outputs for video and add an audio cable.  When you want to watch a DVD, you change the input on your TV from where the Tivo is hooked up to where the DVD player is hooked up (there's a button on the remote to do this).

As for the VCR, it depends what you want to do with it.  If you want to make tapes from your Tivo, you need to hook it up to the Tivo (out from Tivo and in to VCR).  If you just want to watch tapes, hook it up directly to the TV using a different set of inputs from what is already used by the Tivo and the DVD player.

    Good luck!
