the wire has the blue plug with the screws on the side and 3 red blue green plugs. originally i thought the 3plugs go to the tv and the blue plug goes to the pc since the pc has the slot for it but after looking behind my tv, i noticed it says RGB or something and a diagram that looks like the blue plug, i checked my pc and it has no red, blue, green outlets for the other side of the wire.

heres a link to the wire i bought.

  1. The "RGB" is in reference to the color of the Component video inputs.  RGB stands for the three primary colors of light - Red, Green, and Blue.  Just match the plugs up to the TV and stick them in color to color.  Plug the VGA into your computer and make sure your computer's video card is sending the video signal to the VGA out.  You will most likely have a menu for the video card in "Control Panel" under display that will let you mirror the image to a second display (i.e. the TV).

If that doesn't work then get an S-video cable that costs $5( it is a cable that fits into this plug) http://tell.fll.purdue.edu/hatasa/kurosi... and do the same thing with the video card or a VGA to VGA cable that will cost about the same.  I dont know what the guy is talking about with the $100 converters etc.  I have been hooking up my laptop to play movies on my computer for years.

If none of that works, take a picture with your digital camera of the connections on your computer and the TV and take it to Radio Shack.  They'll tell you what you need.

  2. NO, this is a huge misconception in the AV/PC market.

This cable will not do what you think it will, as it is not designed for it.

You can not take VGA(HD-15) and input it into a COMPONENT(YpBpR) connection.

VGA uses 5 wires (RGBHV) and COMPONET use three (YpBpR). Not even close.

Your TV and PC must each have compatiable connectors, one of these: DVI-A or VGA, these are compatiable with each other.

    OR

    DVI-D or HDMI

If your really stuck with no computer input on your TV, then they sell a transcoder for a few hundred that can take VGA to component in. But no guaruntees, the real thing for conversion would run over $1,000.
