Me and my friends are planning to host a car wash tomorrow and we'll be charging $4 for the complete exterior and interior cleaning of the vehicle. I'd like to know if we need a permit in order to host a car wash and what are some of the suppliess we may need?(other then soap, towels,ext...).

Also, where would be the best place to host this event at? and if we host it at a Church, Store parking lot, does the owner of the place need us to pay him/her in order to host it there?

  1. i'd host car-washes in a restraunt parking lot but if you wanna host it in a store parking lot you'd hav to ask the manager and i don't think the manager will hav you guyz pay just 4 hosting a car wash ina his or hers parking lot.

thats all i can think of

  2. If you are earning money for 'yourself', a business will NOT likely let you use their water, obstruct their parking lot, and solicit their customers.  Really, why would they?

HOWEVER, if you are doing a fund-raiser for a team, a charity, a child or family in need, etc., you are more likely to find a business willing to let you use their space.  They will not let a group of kids do any activity without an adult, in case of injury - because they don't want to get sued if you get hurt.

In the event of a fund raiser, you will make MORE money by saying 'Free car wash, donations accepted'.  People will donate well more than $4 for a car wash.  BUT, you have to have some evidence that there is really a charity.  A photo of the team, uniforms, something!  The adult  coach /sponsor /chaperone also gives you credibility.

The BEST businesses to solicit are banks.  They are closed on Sunday, so are most likely to let you use their parking lot that day -- which won't inturrupt their business activity.

Plan to bring your own hoses and sprayers, buckets, soap, sponges/ brushes, towels (a LOT of them), a vacuum and plenty long extension cord.  AND, make large, easy to read signs and plan to have 2-4 kids on the corners with the signs and anything else to get attention (balloons?).  Have a safe container for money, and have singles for change.  Be SURE that you can explain what you are raising money for.  (A band trip, a family who lost their home to fire, whateve).  PHOTOS HELP.

Be absolutely sure you take a trash bag and clean up all the mess, and call or send a thenk you note to the business to let them know that you appreciated their support.

  3. here in my city, teenagers likes to do car wash for some cash. What they do is they go to a local gas station and there is usually a parking space and a hose. I don't think you need a permit, but i wouldn't go to those car wash because I dont feel safe with them touching my car and scratching and breaking the car..
