I have a 5 year old girl, this kid is 17. He has been coming over every afternoon and doesnt leave until 9pm and that's cuz we're going to bed, or we have to go somewhere so he has to go home. He sits on my porch until however long it takes for someone to come out, then he just walks right in. My daughter doesnt know any better so she thinks its a playmate for her..although he's 17, he looks like he's 10. How do I get rid of him without making it weird...we live in a duplex, so he's literally right next door in the same driveway as us.

  1. You should talk with his parents, or whoever he lives with.  It does seem strange that such an older boy is wanting to spend time with a 5 yr old.

You don't have to let him in.  It doesn't matter if you're leaving, or going to bed - or just sitting and playing a game with your kid.  If you don't want company, just tell him it's not a good time.

I'm wondering about why he looks like he's 10.  Does he have some sort of disability?  Be gentle with him, and just say it's not a good time.  Then talk with his parents.

  2. talk to his parents and ask why he hanging around at your house to play with a 5 yr old

  3. Tell him to find some friends his own age!!! Sounds creepy.. I wouldn't worry about being rude to him. Or you could just tell him that you want more alone time with your family, but this might not get the message across. Good luck!!

  4. I would talk to his parents and  him together and explain that your family needs time by themselves.  Also set up a rule about coming over only when asked.

We had the same problem with a 6yo boy that lived near us and would show up any time, day or night, to play with my daughter (also 6yo).  Unfortunately, talking to his mother didn't work so I would just send him home when he would just show up.  Thank goodness they moved this month ::happy dance:: lol.

  5. I would talk to his parents. Sounds like he may have a problem mentally.

  6. just tell him in the sweetest and nicest way possible that you are sorry, but don't have time and he needs to leave. sounds a little mean but it gets the point across.

  7. thats a tough one....try asking him (very casualy) if he has any friends around where u live. maybe there's just no one else his age to hang out w/ and he just enjoys doing something other than staying home. r his parents hom a lot? it might be possible that hes just lonely and wants to have ppl he can talk to. just make sure that ur daughter is safe. im not saying that he might try to do anything w/ her, but just watch her and act quickly if u notice anything going on in a bad way.

    good luck!

  8. maybe talk to him in private and tell him that u guys need a little space

if he continues talk to his parents

thats wierd behavior for a 17 year old.......

    good luck 8)
