i am a 13 year old girl, who likes to shop. i shop anywhere that has cute clothes. i haven't gone shopping in forever, because my parents are trying to save money. i'm willing to use my own money. but there's one problem; i have none. i'll work, but yet, i'm only 13. i'm trying to do extra stuff around the house and i'm going to start babysitting for my neighbor. i have a problem of spending my money on useless things. how do i motivate myself from not spending it?

  1. Well one of the best ways to motivate yourself into saving money is to consistently ask yourself, is this going to benefit me in the long run? After you gather some small amount of cash think about putting about 20-30 percent of whatever you made away into a savings account or if you have an extremely good hiding spot i would suggest you hide it there.

  2. There are a couple of things you can try.  First, write out a list of things to do with your money, write down everything you can think of even things you may not be able to own or do for many years; clothing, college, car, house, vacation, family, retirement, giving to charity.  Then rank the items by assigning a number; 1 for very important, 2 for important, 3 for not important.  Making a list of financial priorities will help you plan your spending and save for those things that are truly important to you.

Second, when you see something in a store you want put it down and leave the store without it.  In a week if you still want the item and have the money you can go back and buy it.  Getting away from things we want buy don't need has a way of reducing the desire for them.

    God bless!
