How to identify a Racing Homer in Variety of Pigeons?

I have variety of pigeons I think all of my new pigeons are racing homers but my friend pointed to four of my pigeons and said only those pigeons were racing homers saying racing homers can be identified by it's eye and by it's bill please explain

  1. It ain't necessarily so!  Racers, especially, have a lot of different family looks to them.  Do some have a larger wattle and cere than others? Yup.  Do some have a finer look than others, yup.

    Racing Homers come in varied colors, patterns, type, and eye color.  The only absolute is that they fly and home well.  If you want to see just how different a lot of them look, just google image racing homers.  If you want more info about race birds, check out both http://www.ifpigeon.com and http://www.pigeon.org

    Now, having said that.  A lot of folks sometimes mix up Birmingham Rollers and Racing Pigeons, just because they look like "pigeons" and not something fancier.   If you have some Birminghams mixed in with your racers that may be what your friend was talking about -- you can see Birminghams at http://www.nbrconline.com
