How to identify condensation polymers?

Just by giving you a name, how do you identify it? Thanks

  1. just by the name of the polymer you can't say if it comes from a condensation process. You need to know the structure (or have a hint about it). It's useful to know that at a condesation reaction you have the formation of a small molecule: normally water, HCl etc. So, knowing the structure, notice if the end groups can form such a molecule when reacted. Sometimes the repeated unit of such a polymer has two symmetries like nylon 6,6 : [CO(CH2)4CO-NH(CH2)6NH] (notice the two CO groups next to the C-C-C-C and the two NH groups next to the C-C-C-C-C-C?)
