  1. yeah i can name every car from the 50's-70's since i was a little kid

  2. Car people look at cars online, look at car manufacturers websites and see new cars, read car magazines.

After seeing it everyday, you automaticaly memorize it.

Plus, I have driven over 200 cars.

You can show a picture of the door and I would know what car it is.

  3. Experience basically.

When you've been around cars all your life you get to know what certain makes and models of cars look like.

  4. Stuff like that is easy for some people. The trick is that we are just able to do it. There is no reason for it.

  5. We're just that good

  6. Most manufacturers have defining features. The lights, grill, panels, door handles etc. will have a very distinctive style, and so it's easy to tell who makes the car from seeing very small sections of it.

The size, shape and features around that can give you clues as to what model in that manufacturers range you're looking at (seen as most manufacturers only produce one or two cars of a particular size or format).

Of course it's a lot easier if you can see the whole car as then you can easily work off the whole body styling, size and format... but it's not too hard even when looking at very small sections of a car when you know what to look out for.
