  1. I recommend getting a book, then going out and looking.  You aren't going to get good at identifying trees by sitting on this site.  Get out and see the real thing.  Collect leaves and look them up- try to do it yourself with the help of the guide book that you have.  good luck!

  2. Here are some great sources for information on tree indentification I have for you.

You are going to  be able to use an instrument called the dichotomous key. It goes by leave shape.

Maple leaves are sort of shaped like a hand.

    Oaks are like deer antlers.

Elms have oval leaves with saw tooth edges.

  3. The only way that you can do this is to get a field guide and go out and start working them out. Where you live will make some what of an impact as to which book would be best.

For example in the South East United States this book is the best that I have found.

Any book you do get however should have a dichotomous key, photographs or illustrations, as well as an index which explains the different types of edges, venation, etc..

  4. By seeing the leaves shape , size ,their arrangement on stem , venation of leaves we can identify trees.

  5. By the colour , shape , arrangement of veins, odour etc.
