  1. From my experience, i am in year 11 currently doing IB and Higher Level Maths which is equivalent of GMA and Maths Methods and a little more or in you are another country the higher level of maths.

Anyway i can't do well in maths unless i completely understand the theories and how things work.  You have to make sure you understand how it all works otherwise when it comes to tests/exams you won't know what to do.  If you know how it works then you know how to apply it to questions and will be able to figure them out.

So my advice sit down and make sure you have a handle on you topics/theories/methods

  2. Brain transplants are all the rage these days

  3. Do simple but questions that make you think, then try harder. Always check your answer though and if your wrong check online what to do or ask someone that might be able to help.

  4. Practice everything you learn.

And dont just accept that you have to do something to an equation or something, find out why. Things are much easier committed to memory if you know why you do it, rather than you just do it.

  5. It depends on what year your in.

For year7-10 you should be improving your understanding of concepts and  knowing formulas and rules.

By year11-12 you should try to do a lot of practice questions from a variety of textbooks, so that you can see the different style of maths questions available.

Also you your resources, such as asking teachers for help whenever you need it.
