I'm a 16 year old guy and my current personal best for 100 metres is 11.98 seconds but I haven't don't any specific sprint training as yet. I was wondering if anyone could suggest the most appropriate scheme to push my time towards sub 11 seconds?

  1. run faster.

  2. Work on your start form, and your finish. The better the start, the better your chance. Also, lean forward more when you finish, that might cut off some tenths

  3. where you are going wrong, is sticking to the horizontal.... try 100m vertical and your times will drop drastically... as will you... be careful, it can hurt, and be glad your sport isnt the 1500m

  4. yeah go to the track and sprint hard down the 100 meter and if you do it often your speed should increase

  5. I use ankle weights, they help a lot! =D

  6. i suggest....... drugs

  7. Best thing you can do is train as much as possible.

  8. Run fast ;)

  9. start taking steroids like the olympic lot

  10. im thinking you boast often james or lie

  11. Just do two things. Get very strong and practice under distance top speed sprints. Getting strong will increase muscle support force at ground contact resulting in shorter contact times and longer strides. Get in a leg press machine and lift a weight with both legs but hold with only one leg, on ball of foot and knee slightly bent. Hold as much weight as you can for 10-20 seconds. Do about 3-6 holds a few times a week. Short sprints will coordinate the elastic qualities of your new strength for speed increases.

  12. Lots of high intensive training. Hill repititions, 200m x 10 reps, 100m x 20 reps.

Weights, take on lots of protein whilst training

Spikes can help improve time by tenths of seconds, your reaction time ect.

Tip: Pretend an axe murderer is behind you or a load of money is at the finish and it is decreasing the slower you get there.

Good luck, i am not really a sprinter, im long distance but i share the same love of the sport as you obviously do. Reach for the moon and if you fall, you will lie amongst the stars!
