  1. Research says the best way to get faster is to practice running fast, so my advice would be to keep running forties as fast as you can.  Try to do about six of them two times a week with a 2 min rest in between each run.  Also squatting and lunges will really help you out in the long term.

  2. find a hill and run up it over and over again. that is the cheap way to improve leg strength. it should help you with your take off.

  3. do 40 yard sprints with a running parachute & squat a lot

  4. The biggest way anyone can improve their 40 time is learning how to get a good start. Learning that can take of anywhere from 1/10th-2/10ths of a second easy, maybe more.

You simply want to put all of your weight of your forward leg and your hand that's on the ground. You should be able to lift your back leg and still be in the same position. Your arm that's free should be bent back so that it's parallel with the ground. Never put it straight up in the air.

Now when you start, you don't want to just stand up. Explode off the line and don't stand straight up for around 2-4 strides. You know you've got this down when your head isn't looking up for a few strides. That's another 1/10th you could tack off your time.

The way you run can affect you too. When you run, run almost like your hands are picking your pockets. If you want wonderful examples, watch the Olympics when track is on. That can take a 1/10 or 2/10th off also.

My last tip to you is that you don't stop until you are about 5 yards past the 40 yard line. So basically, practice running 45 yards. If you just think of slowing down before you reach 40, that's a 1/10th you lose right there.

You don't need a parachute or any other worthless equipment at all. Most of that stuff don't help you at all, they just teach you how to run with a parachute on, not running freely. The only things that sort of help is weights on your ankles, but even then, it's only for a little bit and it can make you lose your balance when running when you take them off. Save the money and the hassle. All you need is a buddy with a stopwatch if you want your time.

  5. yea do Piriformis Stretch you can look it up and quadricepts stretch, and also run low with ur head looking down, remember its ur start dat matters, if u get a bad jump dat can seriously affect ur time.

  6. They say that a flea can be trained to jump a certain height, by placing him a jar, with a lid on it. Once the lid is removed, the flea will not jump higher than he's been trained.

What you want to do is retrain yourself.

Start timing yourself at 10 yards. Continue until your time stops improving.

Then repeat the same process at 20, 25, 30, 35, then 40 yards.

Also, concentrate on maintaining straight, full strides.

This will introduce you to your true capabilities.

I've tried similar a exercise while trying to improve my times in 5k and 10k road races. The track training improved my kick, which was limiting my times. It also takes away the "fear" of over extending your efforts.

  7. put waits on  your legs and run you can get those from Diks sporting goods. It helps strengthen and yo get faster when you take them off.
