I'm almost 15,and am 5" 5' in height (average height in my country) and have started playing basketball since 13.I'm not a serious player,mostly play casual 3-3 half court games .Usually i only have a normal interest in basketball but lately i have a great urge to play and improve my game.Even so , i have many problems.
First , I suck.My dribbling is bad , so i cant do lay - ups in games only practices and also i cant really read the game so i move around the court without purpose.The only things i can do is shoot(which is inconsistent) and defend (this is something which I'm OK at).
Second,I have very low confidence and low self esteem.So, i dont have alot of confidence when i shoot so i hesitate alot even when im open and i get very beat up when i miss a shot(the feeling of letting down my team)which i usually do.Also, i not confident to drive to the basket so i just pass the ball to my stronger teammates and let them do it .Its only when i'm playing weaker opponents that i feel more comfortable.As a result of my lousy play , i get subsituted often by my friends.
By the way,I'm from Malaysia.So,our basketball is not as competitive as other countries.Also , my school does not have their own coach so we suck(even so i cant make it into the team)I have been wanting to find a coach to train me personally but its hard to find and i dont know whether coaches do that or if i have to find a team first.
I really want to improve and be more confident so i can be more reliable and maybe join my school team ?Also , i wanna be taller(6 feet is out of reach but maybe 5 foot 10 ?I have not been growing since 14 so i started to drink milk everyday since 2 months ago hoping it can help.
I know i have alot of problems(i know i sound like a pitiful person ) but i'm really quite concerned about them so can anyone help ?
